The ACRO Certificate, AKA Police Certificate in the United Kingdom, refers to a document, official in nature, provided and issued by the ACRO Criminal Records Office in the UK.
The purpose of the ACRO certificate is to provide evidence of the criminal history of a person, or the lack thereof. In Spain, ACRO Certificates are required for visa applications, immigration purposes or employment.
Key Points of the ACRO Certificate
- Criminal Record Information: It contains records of convictions, if any, along with any cautions, reprimands, or warnings. These details are held in the Computer of the Police in the UK (PNC).
- No Record: if your documens says “No Trace” or “No Live Trace”, this means that there are no criminal records (none at all or no live records).
- Use: ACRO certificates are normally requested by foreign authorities such as immigration offices and authorities.
- Validity: The document itself does not expire, but you will normally be required to provide one issued within the past 3-6 months.
How to Obtain an ACRO Certificate
You can apply online via the website of the ACRO Criminal Records Office.
